Sahih Bukhariحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ اجْعَلُوا فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ مِنْ صَلاَتِكُمْ، وَلاَ تَتَّخِذُوهَا قُبُورًا "
Narrated Ibn `Umar:
The Prophet (ﷺ) had said, "Offer some of your prayers (Nawafil) at home, and do not take your houses as graves."

Narrated Nafi`:
`Abdullah bin `Umar said: I used to sleep in the mosque of the Prophet (ﷺ) while I was young and unmarried.

Narrated Abi Aiyub:
Once the Prophet (ﷺ) went out after sunset and heard a dreadful voice, and said, "The Jews are being punished in their graves."

Sahih Bukhariحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ أَشْيَاءَ كُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ عَتَاقَةٍ وَصِلَةِ رَحِمٍ فَهَلْ فِيهَا مِنْ أَجْرٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ "
Narrated Hakim bin Hizam:
I said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Before embracing Islam I used to do good deeds like giving in charity, slave-manumitting, and the keeping of good relations with Kith and kin. Shall I be rewarded for those deeds?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "You became Muslim with all those good deeds (Without losing their reward)."

Ibn 'Abbas reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Peoples would be presented to me (on the Day of Resurrection), and then the remaining part of the hadith was narrated like the one transmitted by Hushaim, but he made no mention of the first portion.

Sahih Muslimحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، - وَهْوَ ابْنُ مِغْوَلٍ - عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَسْنَدَ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى قُبَّةِ أَدَمٍ فَقَالَ أَلاَ لاَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلاَّ نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ . أَتُحِبُّونَ أَنَّكُمْ رُبُعُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ " . فَقُلْنَا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . فَقَالَ " أَتُحِبُّونَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ " . قَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ " إِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا شَطْرَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ مَا أَنْتُمْ فِي سِوَاكُمْ مِنَ الأُمَمِ إِلاَّ كَالشَّعْرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الأَبْيَضِ أَوْ كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الأَسْوَدِ " ."
Abdullah b Mas'ud reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) addressed us and then supported his back (by reclining) against a leather tent and said: Behold, no one but a believing person would enter Paradise. O Allah, (see) have I conveyed (it not)? 0 Allah, be witness (to it that I have conveyed it). (Then addressing the companions) he said: Don't you like that you should constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Paradise? We said: Yes, Messenger of Allah. He again said: Don't you like that you should constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise? They said: Yes, Messenger of Allah. He said: I hope that you would constitute one- half of the inhabitants of Paradise and you would be among the peoples of the world, like a black hair on (the body of) a white ox or like a white hair on the body of a black ox.

Sahih Muslimوَحَدَّثَنَاهُ إِسْحَاقُ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ، ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
This hadith is narrated by Ibn Uyaina with the same chain of transmitters.

Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Let those who are sedate and prudent be near me, then those who are next to them (saying it tliree tinies), and beware of the tumult of the markets.

An Nasaiحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلاَلٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ : قُتِلَ أَبِي يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم : احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا، وَادْفِنُوا الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلاَثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ، وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا " فَكَانَ أَبِي ثَالِثَ ثَلاَثَةٍ وَكَانَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَقُدِّمَ
It was narrated that Hisham bin 'Amir said:
"My father was killed on the day of Uhud, and the Prophet said: 'Dig graves and make them good and wide, and bury two or three in a grave, and put in first the one who knew the Qur'an most.' My father was the third of three, and the one who knew the Qur'an most was placed (in the grave) first."

An Nasaiقَالَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعَ عَمْرٌو، جَابِرًا يَقُولُ : أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَىٍّ بَعْدَ مَا أُدْخِلَ فِي قَبْرِهِ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَأُخْرِجَ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَنَفَثَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ رِيقِهِ وَأَلْبَسَهُ قَمِيصَهُ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Jabir said:
"The Prophet came to 'Abdullah bin Ubayy after he had been placed in his grave, and commanded that he be brought out. He placed him on his knees and blew on him and clothed him in his shirt. And Allah knows best."

An Nasaiأَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَمَرَ بِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَىٍّ فَأَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ قَبْرِهِ، فَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ فَتَفَلَ فِيهِ مِنْ رِيقِهِ، وَأَلْبَسَهُ قَمِيصَهُ . قَالَ جَابِرٌ : وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Jabir said:
"The Prophet commanded that 'Abdullah bin Ubayy by brought out of his grave, then he placed his head on his knees and blew on him and put his shirt on him." "And he prayed for him. And Allah knows best."

An Nasaiأَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنَ شُفَىٍّ، حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ فَتُوُفِّيَ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا، فَأَمَرَ فَضَالَةُ بِقَبْرِهِ فَسُوِّيَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْمُرُ بِتَسْوِيَتِهَا .
Thumamah bin Shufa narrated:
"We were with Fadalah bin 'Ubaid in the land of the Romans, and a companion of ours died. Fadalah ordered that his grave be made level, then he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah commanding that it be made level."'

Abu Dawoodحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ كَالْمُوَدِّعِ لِلأَحْيَاءِ وَالأَمْوَاتِ .
Narrated Yazid b. Habib:
The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed over the martyrs of Uhud after eight years like a man who bids farewell to the living and dead.

Narrated Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi :
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Do not sit on the graves, and do not pray facing them.

Abu Dawoodحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَنْبَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَبْرَ أُمِّهِ فَبَكَى وَأَبْكَى مَنْ حَوْلَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم اسْتَأْذَنْتُ رَبِّي تَعَالَى عَلَى أَنْ أَسْتَغْفِرَ لَهَا فَلَمْ يُؤْذَنْ لِي فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُ أَنْ أَزُورَ قَبْرَهَا فَأُذِنَ لِي فَزُورُوا الْقُبُورَ فَإِنَّهَا تُذَكِّرُ بِالْمَوْتِ "
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited his mother's grave and wept and cause those around him to weep. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: I asked my Lord's permission to pray for forgiveness for her, but I was not allowed. I then asked His permission to visit her grave, and I was allowed. So visit graves, for they make one mindful of death.

Jamiat Tirmidhiحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، وَأَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الأَرْضُ كُلُّهَا مَسْجِدٌ إِلاَّ الْمَقْبُرَةَ وَالْحَمَّامَ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَجَابِرٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَحُذَيْفَةَ وَأَنَسٍ وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ وَأَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالُوا إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " جُعِلَتْ لِيَ الأَرْضُ مَسْجِدًا وَطَهُورًا " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ رِوَايَتَيْنِ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرْهُ . وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ فِيهِ اضْطِرَابٌ . رَوَى سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُرْسَلٌ . وَرَوَاهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . وَرَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ رِوَايَتِهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . وَكَأَنَّ رِوَايَةَ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَثْبَتُ وَأَصَحُّ مُرْسَلاً ."
Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri narrated that :
Allah's Messenger said: "All of the earth is a Masjid except for the graveyard and the washroom."

Abu Marthan Al-Ghanawi narrated that:
The Prophet said: "Do not sit on the graves nor perform Salat towards them."

Jamiat Tirmidhiحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، وَأَبُو عَمَّارٍ قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحْوَهُ . وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ وَهَذَا الصَّحِيحُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ خَطَأٌ أَخْطَأَ فِيهِ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ وَزَادَ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ بُسْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ هَكَذَا رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ وَبُسْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَدْ سَمِعَ مِنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ .
(Another chain) from Abu Marthad Al-Ghanawi :
from the Prophet, similar (to no. 1050), but it does not contain "From Abu Idris" and this is what is correct.

Ibn Majahحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَى الْقَبْرِ شَىْءٌ .
It was narrated that Jabir said:
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade writing anything on graves."

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade building structures over graves.

Malik Muwattaوَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ لَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَأُصَلِّي فِي عَطَنِ الإِبِلِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لاَ وَلَكِنْ صَلِّ فِي مُرَاحِ الْغَنَمِ .
Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that one of the muhajirun in whom he saw no harm asked Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As, "Can I pray in a place where camels are watered?" Abdullah replied, "No, but you can pray in a sheep-pen."

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "(Prophet) Dawud (ﷺ) ate only out of that which he earned through his manual work."
