6. The Book of Menses
مختصر صحيح البخاري
6/1 Chapter:
Menses (a thing) ordained (by Allâh and instructions) for women.
باب: الأمر بالنَّفَسَاءِ إِذا نَفِسْنَ

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : خَرَجْنَا لَا نَرَى إِلا الْحَجَّ، فَلَمَّا كنتُ بِسَرِف حِضْتُ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ (ﷺ) وَأَنَا أَبْكِي، قَالَ: مَا لَكِ أَنفِسْتِ؟). قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ، قَالَ : (إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرُ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ، فَاقْضِي مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُ ، غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ) . قَالَتْ : وَضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) عَنْ نِسَائِهِ بِالْبَقَرِ .
Narrated Aisha
We set out with the sole intention of performing Ḥajj and when we reached Sarif, (a place 11 k.m. from Makka) I got my menses. Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) came to me while I was weeping. He said " What is the matter with you? Have you got your menses?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "This is a thing which Allâh has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So do what all the pilgrims do with the exception of the Tawaf (Circumambulation) round the Ka'ba." Aisha added, "Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives." [1:293-O.B.]

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا حديث حَيْضِها وهي مَعَ النَّبيِّ (ﷺ) في الخميلة، ثُمَّ قالت في هذه الرواية : إِنَّ النبي (ﷺ) : كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ.
Narrated Umm Salama
"I was lying with the Prophet (ﷺ) under a woollen sheet when I got my menses ". (see Hadîth No. 207) and added in this quotation that " the Prophet (ﷺ) used to kiss me while he was observing Șaum (fast). [1:319-O.B.]
6/2 Chapter:
The washing of the husband's head and the combing of his hair by a menstruating wife.
باب: غَسْلِ الحَائِضِ رَأْسَ زَوجهَا وَتَرجيلِهِ

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariوعَنْها رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ أُرَجُلُ رَأْسَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ .
Narrated Aisha
While in menses, I used to comb the hair of Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) [1:294-O.B.]

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariو في رواية : وَهُوَ مُجَاوِرٌ فِي المَسْجِدِ، يُدْنِي لَهَا رَأْسَهُ، وَهِيَ فِي حُجْرَتِهَا ، فَتُرَجِّلُهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ .
Narrated 'Aisha
"When the Prophet (ﷺ) was in the mosque (in the state of I'tikâf) he would bring his head near her in her room and she would comb his hair, while she used to be in her menses." [1:295-O.B.]
6/3 Chapter:
To recite the Qur'ân while lying in the lap of one's own menstruating wife.
باب: قِرَاءَةِ الرَّجُلِ فِي حَجْرِ امْرَأَتِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضِ

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariوعَنْهَا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ (ﷺ) يَتَّكِي فِي حَجْرِي وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ ، ثُمَّ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ :
Narrated Aisha
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to lean on my lap and recite the Qur'ân while I was in menses. [1:296-O.B.]
6/4 Chapter:
Using the word Nifas for menses.
باب: مَنْ سَمَّى النِّفَاسَ حَيْضاً

Mukhtasar Sahih Al-Bukhariعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا - قَالَتْ : بَيْنَا أَنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ (ﷺ) مُضْطَجِعَةٌ فِي خَمِيصَةٍ، إِذْ حِضْتُ، فَانْسَلَلْتُ، فَأَخَذْتُ ثِيَابَ حَيْضَنِي، قَالَ: (أَنْفِسْتِ؟). قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَدَعَانِي، فَاضْطَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ فِي الْخَمِيلَةِ .
Narrated Umm Salama
While I was lying with the Prophet (ﷺ) under a single woollen sheet, I got the menses. I slipped away and put on the clothes for menses. He said, "Have you got Nifâs, (menses)?" I replied, "Yes." ' He then called me and made me lie with him under the same sheet. [1:297-0.B.]
